Zadar is a beautiful and remarkable city of Croatia. It is situated on the Adriatic Sea and is the fifth largest city in the country. This city covers an area of 25 kilometre square. This city is said to have the first sea organ in the world. The sound produced by it came from the power of sea waves and wind. Zadar has the world first musical pipe organ that is played by the sea. It is a natural instrument that is blown by a column of air, pushed in turn by a column of wave-moves water through a plastic tube which is immersed into the water. It was installed in 2005 on the seafront back of the city. This sea organ has a series of underwater tubes and the marble steps that are descending into the water. It is a very beautiful and stunning place to visit in the city. Near this place, the Greeting to the sun is another awesome place to have a visit.
The Greetings to the Sun is also known by the name of Monument to the sun. It is a very popular monument which is completely dedicated to the sun. It has a circle of around 22 metre in diameter along with photovoltaic solar modules under it. There are three hundred multi layered glass plates that are placed in the same level as the stone paved waterfront. Nikola Basic is the designer of this beautiful monument which consists of lighting elements inside the circle that produces a light show at night time. The construction of this monument was completed in 2008. This monument looks magnificent at night. Many people visit this city just to see the Sea Organ and Greetings to the sun, both these places are very close to each other. The Cathedral of St. Anastasia or the Zadar Cathedral is the largest church in Dalmatia and is a Roman Catholic Cathedral. This Cathedral comes under UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites. The construction of this lovely building started in the 4th – 5th century. The three nave buildings are constructed in Romanesque style. There is a bell in the Cathedral which is around 56 metre tall and was built in two stages. In 1452, the construction of the ground and first floor was completed under the reign of Archbishop Vallaresso, while the upper floor construction was completed in 1890 to 1894 by English architect and art historian Thomas Graham Jackson. The shape of this Cathedral is octagonal in shape and at the top of it is a brass statue of an angel which rotates with the direction of the wind blowing. This place is totally worth a visit.
