The City Tower is a symbol and a very great example of a typical round tower access point which leads into the fortified town. This tower was built around the middle ages. The superstructure of the tower on which there is a city clock situated since the 17th century has been reconstructed a number of times. There was a double headed eagle situated on the top of the tower’s turret, but after the First World War its one head was chopped off by the Italian soldiers to make it less similar to the Austrian eagle and more similar to the Roman one. Later after the Second World War, it was completely removed from the tower. On 19 April 2017, a replica of the two headed eagle was placed on the top of the city tower. The sculpture is a carbon copy of its original one and is made of aluminium. The sculpture is 255 cm in length and has a wingspan of 300 cm. It is positioned at a height of 30m and the total weight of this sculpture is around 270kg. This tower holds a lot of history and information. The architecture of this tower is very beautiful and completely worth a visit.
