The Van Abbemuseum is a museum located on the east bank of the Dommel River and contains contemporary and modern art. This museum was established in 1936 and contains about 3,000 works of art. The building became too small for all the modern art, so a new extension of 27 metre high building was added to the old building and it was inaugurated in 2003 by Queen Beatrix. St. Catherine’s Church is one of the most stunning and popular churches of Eindhoven and was built in the honour of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The construction of this church took place between 1861 and 1867. This church was declared as the national monument of the Netherlands in 1972. The church consists of two towers and both of them are 70 metres in height. Maria and David are the names of the two towers. The Church was brutally destroyed by bombs during the wars in 1942, but later it was restored by architect C.H. de Bever. The building now served as a National Cultural Monument. Music concerts are regularly held at the church by the Music Foundation. This church has a very beautiful architecture and people visit this place every year. It is totally worth a visit.
