The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA)

The Detroit Institute of Arts has one of the largest and most significant art collections in the United States. With an encyclopaedic collection that spans over the globe from ancient Egyptian and European works to contemporary art, the collection of this institute is among the top six museums in the United States. It was established in 1885. Its permanent collection has more than 65,000 works of art within more than 100 galleries. The Detroit Zoo

In 2000, this zoo opened a National Amphibian Conservation Center which has a diverse range of toads, frogs, salamanders, newts and caecilians. In 2001, the zoo opened a 4 acre Arctic Ring of Life which served as home to two southern sea otters, arctic foxes and three polar bears. The Arctic Ring of Life is the largest polar bear habitat in North American Zoos. The zoo was also awarded the AZA Significant Achievement Award in 2003 for the Arctic Ring of Life. A variety of animals can be seen inside a zoo which includes numerous species. The visitors are also allowed for giraffe feeding and penguin meet and greets. Belle Isle Park

The Belle Isle Park is also simply known as Belle Isle covers an area of 982 acres of land. It is located in the International waters of the Detroit River. It is completely surrounded by water, with approximately 7 miles of shoreline. It is the largest city island park of the country, which makes it larger than New York City’s Central Park. The MacArthur Bridge connects this park to Detroit, and is rich with unique architecture, statues, fountains and man made lagoons. It is also home to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, which celebrates the maritime history of the Detroit River and the Great Lakes.
