Things To Do in Constanta, Romania

The Constanta Casino

The Constanta Casino was established by designers Petre Antonescu and Daniel Renard and is located on the seashore. The structure has been neglected for a certain time, but officials are working to restore it.

From the exterior, one may admire the building's art nouveau flair and revel in its opulent construction. A pedestrian walkway surrounds the casino and provides a beautiful view of the ocean. You may go for a walk and watch the seagulls' air dance, virtually feeling the salty of the air. Even though it is still rehabilitated, this edifice is one of the city's great attractions.

The Great Mahmudiye Mosque

The mosque, built by King Carol I in 1910, is among the most spectacular sites in Constanta. As a result, it's sometimes referred to as the Carol I Mosque. Muslims of Turk or Tatar heritage gather here to worship their faith. Every day, the muezzin ascends the stairs and calls the faithful summoned to prayer. The façade of the structure is decorated with Byzantine architectural motifs, and the interior is stunning. The mosque's centrepiece is a big Turkish rug, courtesy of Sultan Abdul Hamid. With an elevation of 47 metres, the minaret provides a wonderful view over the port and the ancient town centre.

The Museum of Senses

The Museum of Senses, a relatively new site in Constanta, should be included in your itinerary. The proprietors describe it as a "wonderland of head-scratching illusions," a place where your senses will be put to the ultimate test.

The interactive exhibitions will stretch your imagination and maybe teach you something new about yourself and your levels of perception. Fun is assured, from illusions to upside-down planets!

Constanta Aquarium

The Aquarium in Constanta, which first opened in 1958, has about 100 different types of fish and sea animals. There are exhibits on marine animals, freshwater creatures, and exotic fish. It is situated on the waterfront, near the Casino, in a structure that was formerly used as a restaurant.

If you go, be careful to verify the basin with a variety of stunning sturgeons. The aquatic part also has seahorses and sea stars as attractions.

Many of the species of fish present in the Danube Delta may be found in the freshwater area, including carp, pike, and perch. Piranhas, knife fish, and spadefish are among the aquarium's unique fish.

Romanian Navy Museum

The Romanian Navy Museum provides an excellent look at both military and security navy life. The museum's exhibit of ships and anchors, as well as an excellent exhibit of knots, lighthouse bulbs, and navy uniforms, are open to visitors.

If you are on vacation with children, they may be interested in the mockup submarine. It is strongly advised that you pay a visit to the museum to view everything it has to offer, featuring naval gadgets, torpedoes, and weapons. There are also components from historical ships and submarine models, perfect for anybody interested in maritime history.

The Genoese Lighthouse

The ancient monument, situated on the waterfront, was constructed about the 1300s in honour of the Genoese businessmen who had developed successful sea commerce in Constanta. The Danubius and the Black Sea Corporation ordered its reconstruction in 1860.

The lighthouse stands 8 metres tall and was operational until 1910. It is now only visible from the outside and is considered a major attraction. A Genoese ship may be seen on its walls (coat of arms).

The House with Lions

If you're walking about Constanta, you should check out the House of Lions. Architecture enthusiasts will admire the mix of architectural features, as well as the four chambers crowning the massive lions.

The magnificent edifice, which was built in the nineteenth century, was originally used for Masonic Lodge meetings. It is now deserted and cannot be accessed, but its façade provides lots of shooting chances for photography aficionados or those wishing to liven up their Instagram accounts.
