Volotea Flights

Volotea is an airline with its main headquarters located in Barcelona and was born in 2011. The founders are Carlos Muñoz (CEO) and Lázaro Ros (General Manager). On April 5th, 2012, Volotea made its first take-off. Since then they have transported more than 35 million passengers.

History

Volotea was created by Alaeo S.L., who were former Vueling founders, Carlos Muñoz and Lázaro Ros. The name "Volotea" originates from the Spanish verb "revolotear," meaning "to fly around." Volotea commenced operations on 5 April 2012 at Venice Marco Polo Airport. The company is backed by three private-equity funds, two of them from Europe and a third one from the US. The chairman, Greg Brenneman, was formerly President and COO at Continental Airlines before becoming chairperson for Volotea in 2012. They raised over €50m before operations began.

Destinations

Volotea offers flights to over 100 destinations in Europe and North Africa. The carrier's network is mostly focused on Mediterranean and European countries, with some routes extending into the Middle East. It includes {list_destinations}.

Fleet

The Volotea fleet comprises 29 aircraft, all of which are Airbus A320-200s with 252 seats. The airline's fleet is currently made up of Airbus 320s and Airbus 321s. Volotea's fleet is configured in economy, premium economy, and business class cabins.

Check-in

Volotea check-in is a fast, simple, and secure process. You can complete the check-in online or at the airport. If you carry baggage that exceeds your allowance, you will need to pay for excess luggage at the airport desk before going through security. Volotea accepts cash, debit card, and credit card payments at check-in desks and airport kiosks.

Hand and hold luggage

The airline offers two types of baggage allowance: freehand luggage and paid hold luggage. The free allowance is up to 1 bag weighing 10 kg (22 lbs), and the paid allowance is up to 2 bags weighing 20 kg (44 lbs). The maximum dimensions for both types of baggage are length 55 cm (21"), width 40 cm (16") and height 25 cm (10"). Passengers can check-in online up to 24 hours before departure or at the airport counter within 45 minutes of flight departure time.
