Spirit Airlines Flights

Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines is a famous American airline. Its headquarters is located in Miami, Florida, and is known for operating scheduled flights across multiple destinations in the United States. In 2020, the airline was declared the eighth-largest carrier in North America. The company’s goal is to make people’s journeys as comfortable as possible, allowing passengers from different parts of America to travel to various destinations.

History

Its history dates back to 1964 when the airline started with the name “Clippert Trucking Company”. Later, it was renamed Charter One. The company added jet aircraft to its fleet and was again renamed “Spirit Airlines”. The scheduled flight operation started in 1992 between Detroit and Atlantic City. In the next few years, the airline expanded its operations to different destinations, including New York and Los Angeles. In 2010, it became the first airline to charge an extra fare for hand luggage in the US aviation industry.

Destinations

Spirit airline covers several destinations across the continents of South America and North America. Here’s the list of the destinations served {list_destinations}.

Fleet

The airline currently operates airbuses, although it previously owned aircraft from the McDonnell Douglas family too.

Check-in

Get your boarding pass printed online and sent to your mobile. No need to visit the airport hours before your flight’s scheduled departure time. Online check-in starts 24 hours before the flight leaves, so you have plenty of time to complete your booking. Check-in ends an hour before the departure time. Or, you can arrive early at the airport and check in using the self-service kiosk machines.

Hand and Hold Luggage Allowance

Spirit airline charges an additional fee for the carry-on bags. They allow one carry-on bag and a personal item in the cabin. Personal items, such as a small laptop bag or a briefcase are free, as long as it fits the area under your seats. The personal item should not exceed 45 x 35 x 20 cm. The bags must not contain any items restricted by the airline. The maximum dimension limit for a carry-on bag is 22 x 18 x 10 inches.

Class of Service, Comfort, and Seats

Spirit doesn’t have an additional fare for business, premium, or economy class. They claim to keep the fare low by disabling these services. The seats have sufficient space. You can pay extra to book a seat with additional legroom, but you don’t get a choice in the class of service. Unfortunately, the basic fare does not include refreshments, TV, reclining seats, and other amenities.

Services Onboard

Spirit does not offer any complimentary food or beverages, although you can pre-book your meals or order anything on the flight for a small fee. While you are allowed to bring pets, they charge a very high fee for a pet carrier. The requirements for an additional carry-on consisting of a pet are similar to the baggage requirements. You must complete the booking for a cat or dog during check-in. Unfortunately, Spirit airlines do not have TVs or any entertainment unit. They do have Wi-Fi though.
