Pegasus Flights

Pegasus

Owned by Esas Holding AS, Pegasus Airlines is a Turkish low-cost airline that offers domestic and international services and has its headquarters located in Turkey and Istanbul. If you are looking for the cheapest airline, Pegasus is your best bet. However, the low cost means you’ll have to compromise on the food quality and other entertainment services.

History

Pegasus Airlines was formed in 1989 when Silkar and Net collaborated with Aer Lingus to establish a low-cost Turkish carrier. The airline started in 1990 with Boeing 737-400s. Unfortunately, four months after the inauguration of this airline, the Turkish tourism industry saw a decline due to the Iraq invasion of Kuwait. The demand increased again, as tourists started flying back to their home countries in 1992. As a result, Pegasus airlines had to lease two Airbus A320s to cater to this growing demand. It completed the 29.87 million passenger milestone in 2019. It has now become the second-largest airline in Turkey.
