Norwegian is Norway’s flag carrier and the largest airline. In terms of the number of passengers carried, Norwegian is ranked the second-most popular airline in Scandinavia and the ninth-most popular in Europe. It operates domestic flights between Finland and Scandinavia, holiday flights, and international flights across many destinations.

History

Norwegian was launched in 1993. Initially, it was owned and managed by the Busy Bee staff and had fifty employees. It operated from Bergen and later shifted to Stavanger. In the subsequent year, the company expanded its fleet to the fourth Fokker 50 and bought two more by 1997. They set a record of flying 500,000 passengers in just six years of operation. In 2010, the company announced long-haul flight operations. The year between 2018 and 2021 witnessed a rapid growth of this airline.

Fleet

The airline has Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 currently. Previously, it owned six Fokker 50s and McDonnell Douglas aircraft.

Check-in procedure

Online check-in services for Norwegian flights start 48 hours before the scheduled departure. If you missed online check-in, arrive early at the airport and get your boarding pass printed at the self-service check-in kiosks. Or, you can head to the airport counter. Online check-in will save you the time spent at the airport, in long queues at the check-in counters. Once you get your boarding pass, you can head straight to the security check.

Hand and Hold Luggage Allowance

Passengers are allowed to bring one cabin bag, which must be small enough to fit the area under your seats. You can also bring an additional bag if you book Low Fare + Flex Tickets. Class of Service, Seats, and Comfort

The seat size and comfort in Norwegian flights can vary depending on the aircraft. Most flights offer a seat pitch of 30” and are approx 16.8 inches wide. The premium economy seats of Norwegian recline and offer sufficient space. You can fly in business or premium economy class to ensure a comfortable journey. Some flights have seats with extra legroom, but they come with an additional fare.

Services onboard

Snacks and foods are available for purchase onboard. You can pre-order your meals (at the time of check-in). They offer free Wi-Fi to all passengers. For a better network, you can upgrade to high-speed Wi-Fi. They also have magazines and TV to keep you busy throughout your journey. Norwegian allows two small pets in the cabin, as long as they fit into a ventilated container and the size doesn’t exceed 10kgs combined.
