Luxair Flights

Luxair

The flag carrier of Luxembourg, Luxair has its headquarters and the main hub located at the Luxembourg airport. The airline offers both scheduled and charter services to destinations across Europe mainly. Luxair happens to be the only airline in Luxembourg to offer regular flights in the region.

History

Founded in 1961, Luxair was formed in order to cater to the increasing demand for airlines from Luxembourg to the European cities. The airline started operation in 1962 when it flew the first aircraft from Luxembourg to Paris using Fokker F27 Friendship. In a few years, the company launched Boeing 737-400s and Boeing 737-500s. In 2005, the airline removed Fokker 50 from its fleet to buy an all-jet fleet. In 2015, Lufthansa, a shareholder of the airline, announced selling all its shares to the Luxembourg government.

Destinations

Luxembourg flights operate in Europe, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and North Africa. Here’s the list of the destinations served by the airline: {list_destinations}.

Fleet

Currently, Luxair operates Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800. It also owns a De Havilland Dash 8-400. Previously, Luxair owned and operated various airbuses, Embraer, and Fokker.

Check-in Procedure

The airline offers an online check-in service that starts 24 hours and ends 1 hour before the flight departure. Complete your booking online to save yourself the time spent at the airport in the long queues. They also have self-check-in machines at various airports, allowing passengers to complete their check-in on their own. You have to arrive at the airport early (at least 2-3 hours before departure) if you haven’t checked in online.

Hand and Hold Luggage Allowance

Each Luxair passenger is allowed to bring one carry-on piece in the economy class with one personal item and two carry-ons with a personal item in the business class. The maximum weight you can bring in the cabin is 8 kgs. The dimensions of these bags, including handles and the wheels, should not exceed 55 x 40 x 23 cm.

Class of Service, Seat, and Comfort

The airline offers two classes — economy and business. Fly in business class to enjoy extra legroom, spacious seats, delicious meals, and a variety of in-flight perks. The recliner seats allow you great comfort, especially with the extra legroom. You can book your preferred seats by check-in online. Or, pay an extra fare to get seats with extra legroom.

Services On-board

Luxair allows you to pre-book your meals at least 48 hours before the flight departs. The company serves snacks, meals, and beverages to all passengers. The number of servings depends on the length of your flight.

They have an in-flight entertainment system available on both short-haul and long-haul flights, although they have a limited selection of movies and series available. Unfortunately, none of the Luxair flights have Wi-Fi yet. You can bring up to three pets in the cabin, as long as their combined weight doesn’t exceed 8 kgs. They must be brought in a ventilated carrier, and the airline only accepts small dogs and cats.
