Korean Air

Based on fleet size, international destinations, and international flights, Korean Air flight is the largest airline in South Korea. Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, has the airline's international headquarters.

History

After the Hanjin Group acquired Korean Air Lines in June 1962, Korean Air became the present-day Korean Air on March 1, 1969. Korea Air is majority owned by Hanjin KAL Corporation, even though Hanjin Group owns it. Among the only airlines that fly to all six continents, the airline was one of the founding members of the SkyTeam alliance. In addition to owning China Airlines and Delta Air Lines, Air France, China Airlines, Emirates, Malaysia Airlines and KLM have codeshare agreements with the company.

Fleet

Korean Air has a fleet of 180 aircraft, including three Airbus A380-800s, one Boeing 747-8I, one Boeing 787-9, and one Boeing 737-900 as of May 2022.

Check in Procedure

Korean Air flights can be checked in online by all passengers who have valid tickets. A 48-hour window is available for online check-in prior to flight departure. It depends on the route a passenger is flying as to how long it will remain open. Passengers must enter their personal information in order to check in. You can print out the boarding pass immediately or you can send it by email so that you can print it later. 

Allowances for hand and hold luggage

Each passenger is permitted to bring at least one piece of hand luggage free of charge on a Korean Air flight. Economy passengers are allowed a maximum weight of 12 kg of luggage, while First and Prestige passengers are allowed two pieces of luggage weighing a combined total of 18 kg. The dimensions of hand luggage should not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm. In terms of checked baggage allowances, 158 cm is the maximum size when all dimensions are added up. Weights exceeding 32 kg should be avoided.

It is currently possible to book flights on Korean Air as first class in three types, business class in four types, and economy class in two types.

The selection of in-flight meals is carefully prepared and served with the best care and quality to ensure that you have a memorable flying experience. The meals offered on board consist of a wide variety of dishes which are prepared with seasonal ingredients and accompanied by select wines. Aircraft type, flight route, aircraft type, and time of flight may affect the services provided during the flight.
