ITA Airways is the new national air carrier of Italy created as a result of Alitalia restructuring due to financial issues.
The airline is expected to be the innovative company that will become a reference point for Italy by providing quality connectivity with both international destinations-such as boosting tourism and foreign trade-and within the country -taking advantage of train integrated transportation. ITA Airway aims to provide customers with the best customer service through digitising processes that ensure personalised experiences combined with sustainability aspects such as green aircrafts (new models) and sustainable fuels.
Alitalia-Italy's flag carrier launched operations back in 1946. The Italian government owned the company until 2009, when it became a private company after reorganising and merging with Air One, an Italian airline that went bankrupt in 2008. In 2015, Etihad Airways bought Alitalia, which invested $375 million and owned 50 percent of the shares, with Air France KLM Group owning 25%. After being unsuccessful at turning profitable for years, in May 2017, Italy ruled out nationalising Alitalia so as not to burden taxpayers or risk seeing another state bankruptcy. In March 2020, after months of failed negotiations between various companies, Italy took ownership of Alita using public money.
ITA plans to serve many destinations (21 in Italy) including {list_destinations}.
By 2025 airline forecasts to double the network of destinations.
