Condor is a German airline with its base at Frankfurt airport. The flights mainly operate from different airports in Germany, especially Frankfurt and Munich.

History

The history of Condor Airlines dates back to 1955 when it was launched as Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH. Its operation started in 1956. The first aircraft was used for the pilgrimage flight and within the same year, two destinations — the Canary Islands and Majorca — were included in its schedule. Lufthansa became the sole owner of the airline in 1960 and changed the name of the airline to Condor Flugdienst GmbH. in 1966, the company started long-haul flights and five years later, they purchased the Boeing 747, which was the biggest aircraft of that time.

Fleet

The airline owns and operates a combination of Airbuses and Boeings. It has two Boeings — Boeing 767-300ER and Boeing 757-300, as well as four airbuses. It previously owned Douglas DC-8-73CF, Lockheed L-1649A Starliner, and a variety of aeroplanes.

Check-in

Online check-in starts 24 hours before the flight leaves, so make sure you book as early as possible to get your preferred seats. For short-haul flights, online check-in ends 45 minutes before flight departure. You can also check in at the airport. But, you will have to arrive at least 2 hours before departure to get your baggage checked. Complete your booking online and head directly to the security check at the airport.

Hand and Hold Luggage Allowance

You can carry one carry-on luggage and that too must meet the airline’s weight and dimension guidelines. Small handbags can be placed under your seats while the larger ones with wheels must be placed in the overhead storage. You will be charged an extra fee for the hand baggage if its size and weight exceed the recommended size and weight. You can also carry one personal item, in addition to the carry-on bag. It could be a small briefcase, a laptop bag, or a pet carrier.

Class of service, comfort, and seats

Condor has three classes — economy, premium economy, and business. Book economy premium class for additional legroom and many other advanced facilities for long-haul flights. Business-class passengers get to enjoy the best level of comfort, plus a guaranteed unoccupied middle seat. Lie-flat seats are available for business class passengers, along with a gourmet menu and many extras. You could also book an extra seat for an additional fare for a comfortable journey.

Services onboard

The entertainment unit is available on all long-haul flights, offering you access to 50+ movies, many web series, and hundreds of songs from different genres. Snacks, beverages, desserts, and meals are available on long-haul flights, while snacks are served to short and medium-haul flight passengers.
