In the Chinese air transportation industry, China Eastern Corporation Ltd. was the first listed company. When it was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1997, it completed the first public offering of its shares. As a major Chinese airline, it controls international, domestic, and zonal routes. The main hubs of China Eastern Airlines Flight are Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

History

On 25 June 1988, China Eastern Airlines became a part of the Civil Air Transportation Administration of China Huadong. It became the country's first airline to provide shares on the international market after taking over China General Air transportation in 1997. As part of a joint venture with COSCO, China Cargo Airlines was established in 1998. There was a successful takeover of Great Wall Airlines by this company in March 2001. In 2003, China Yunnan Airlines and China Northwest Airlines merged to form China Eastern Airlines.

Fleet

A total of 606 aircraft are operated by China Eastern Airlines, including Airbus, Boeing, and Comec aircraft. Airbus received its first order from China Eastern Airlines. The A320 series is the backbone of the fleet, which is primarily used for domestic flights

Check-in

There is the convenience of checking in online for China Eastern Airlines flights. With online check-in, travellers can avoid long lines at the airport and check in from home or the office. Prior to scheduled flight departure, the service is available 24 hours to 90 minutes in advance. Passengers are required to drop off their check-in bags at the baggage drop area at the airport, before proceeding to the security check.

Hand and Hold Luggage Allowance

On domestic flights, passengers can carry up to 10 kg of hand baggage, up to 20 kg of check-in baggage for Super Economy and Economy Class, 30 kg for Business Class, and 40 kg for First Class. On international flights, passengers can carry hand baggage weighing up to 10 kgs, check-in luggage weighing up to 23 kgs for Economy Class, and 32 kgs each for Business and First Class.

First-class, business class, premium economy, and economy are all available in China Eastern.

All Boeing 777s operated by China Eastern are equipped with a first-class cabin. A first-class seat features a flatbed seat, direct aisle access, and a sliding door. 

Business class - China Eastern's narrow-body fleet has armchairs arranged 2-2 in business class. Business class seats on its A350 and B787 are redesigned Thompson Vantage XLs with Delta-like doors.

It has been established on all Boeing B787 and Airbus A350 aircraft that Premium economy is available.

On select A330s, A350s, B777s, and B787s, China Eastern offers complimentary meal service and seatback entertainment.
