Formerly known as SATA Corporate Airlines, Azore Airlines is the carrier of the Portugal flag and has its hub located at Joao Paulo II Airport. The flight operates in 100+ destinations around the world, covering European and American destinations mainly.

History

Launched in 1994, the airline started operation a year later. It was named OceanAir and became the first authorised airline to operate non-scheduled services. However, the company got suspended and SATA Air Acores, the biggest shareholder of the company, became the owner of this airline. In 1998, the company’s name was changed to SATA Internacional. It was again renamed Azore Airlines in 2015.

Fleet

Azore Airlines mainly has Airbuses, although it previously owned and operated Boeing 737-300 and Boeing 737-400. Currently, it owns a few Airbus A320-200s, Airbus A321neo, and Airbus A321LR.

Check-in

There are many options for check-in available for Azore Airline passengers. You can complete the check-in procedure online from your mobile or computer and get the boarding pass from home, or you can complete the check-in procedure at the airport. The self-service kiosk machines can be used for check-in.

Hand and Hold Luggage Allowance

The company has put a limit on the items you can bring on board in order to adhere to the airline’s safety guidelines. For economy class passengers, one carry-on bag is allowed. The weight shouldn’t exceed 8kgs, while a single carry-on is allowed for passengers in business class with a maximum weight of 15 kgs. The dimensions should not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Class of Service, Seat, Comfort

The airline offers two classes - economy and business. The size of the seats and legroom space vary depending on the aircraft. It is mostly between 30” and 39”, although you can pay an additional fare to book seats with extra legroom. The seats are spacious. You get sufficient legroom to stretch your legs and enjoy a comfortable ride. You can select a seat during the check-in process, i.e. if you complete check-in online.

Services on-board

You can bring a pet container on the flight, however, it will be counted as a carry-on. If you are bringing a pet, you can’t carry any hand luggage other than the pet container. You can pre-book your meals at the time of check-in. The crew offers in-flight meals and snacks to each passenger. It includes beverages and snacks. If it’s a long-haul flight, you get a packaged dessert and pre-arrival snacks. The entertainment system is available for passengers in economy and business classes. You can stream your favourite movies, series, or listen to your favourite music with a single tap.
