American Airlines

American Airlines is the largest airline company operating in more than 50 countries. Its headquarters are located in Fort Worth, Texas, and are owned and operated by AMR Corporation. The company has an extensive network of both domestic and international flights, with hundreds of aircraft flying to different destinations every day.

History

Awarded as the Airlines of the Year by ATW in 2017, the history of American Airlines dates back to 1930. The alliance of over 80 small airlines led to the development of the world’s third-largest airline. The first aeroplane flew from St. Louis, Missouri to Chicago for delivering mail. It was flown by Charles Lindbergh. In 2013, US Airways bought American Airlines and decided to keep its original name because of the airline’s popularity across the world.

Check-in procedures

Check-in for American Airlines aircraft can be completed a day before the flight departs. The check-in period ends 45 minutes before the flight takes off. You must arrive at least 45 minutes before departure if you are flying within the US or 60 minutes before departure if you are travelling outside. Use curb-side check-ins at the airport or you can complete the check-in online using the company’s app.

Hand and hold luggage allowance

You can bring a carry-on bag and one personal item (a laptop bag or a briefcase). No matter which bag you bring, it must fit the area underneath your seat easily. The bags and the personal item must be 36-inches and 40 pounds maximum.

Seat size, space, comfort, and a class of service

Services offered by American Airlines include Aadvantage, Domestic First Class, Premium Economy, Main Cabin, Main Cabin Extra, Basic Economy, and Flagship Lounge. The seat design in American Airlines' fleet varies by aircraft, and so do the legroom and entertainment services. Business and economy class offer a comfortable space and sufficient legroom. Flagship Lounge has flat seats for a wider room and the most comfortable ride.

Service Onboard

The snacks and food service depend on the flight length. The Main Cabin can cover a snack, meal, alcoholic drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages. First-class tickets cover larger meals and alcoholic drinks. You can also enjoy free entertainment services, no matter which class you booked. You can stream movies, music, videos, and even learn a new skill from the built-in entertainment system or your personal devices. You can carry pets in all classes of American Airlines, as long as the carrier weight doesn’t exceed the luggage limits.
