Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines is the sixth biggest airline in North America in terms of the number of passengers carried, fleet size, and areas covered. It is an American airline with its headquarters located in SeaTac, Washington. The company has collaborated with SkyWest Airlines and Horizon Air and serves many domestic and international destinations across the world. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the hub of Alaska Airlines and the company is part of the Oneworld Alliance.

History

Alaska Airlines has been serving people for 90 years. It started in 1932 and the first flight was scheduled to be flown between Bristol Bay and Anchorage. The company struggled a lot initially, due to the Great Depression. Linious Mac McGee, the founder of this airline, sold it to Star Air Service in 1935 only to come back and operate the airline for selling liquor to the local communities in Alaska. Many mergers took place and the airline was bought and sold several times before it got the name “Alaska Airline” in 1944. Since then, the popularity of Alaska Airlines has grown by leaps and bounds.

Check-in

Complete the check-in procedure online and get your boarding pass printed on your mobile. Or, you can arrive at the airport early, i.e. 2-3 hours before the flight departs and check-in at the airport. Self-service machines are available for passengers to complete the check-in manually or you can head to the counters.

Hand and Hold Luggage Allowance

Passengers are allowed to bring one carry-on bag and a personal item, which can be a briefcase or a laptop case. It must be compact enough to fit the overhead storage space or the area beneath your seats. The maximum dimension for your carry-on luggage is 22” x 14” x 9”. Check the size and weight of your carry-on to ensure it fits the airline’s guidelines. Keep the identification tag in your carry-on bag.

Class of Service, Seat, Comfort

Nearly all flights of this airline feature three classes — first class, premium class, and main cabin. The first-class offers a luxury travel experience with recliner-style seats and complimentary drinks available for each passenger. The Premium class has a 35” seat pitch and the main cabin is the economy class. The seats are spacious and comfortable enough to house each passenger comfortably.

Services on-board

The airline offers a buy on board program, which allows you to book your meals on the flight. The flights are equipped with Wi-Fi and an entertainment system. Pets are allowed in the cabin, but you need to bring their vaccination certificate and carry them in the hand luggage. Note that a pet carrier will be counted as your carry-on item. Hot meals, snacks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served to passengers in each class.
