Malta’s flag carrier, Air Malta, is one of the largest airlines in Malta, with its headquarters located in Luqa. The operations take place from its central hub at Malta International Airport. The airline serves many domestic and international locations across various continents. 

History 

Air Malta has been operating for 49 years now. Its history dates back to 1973, when it was formed after the second world war. Initially, the three companies launched private airline services in Malta. This included Malta Airlines, BAS Ltd, and Malta Instone Airlines. Malta Instone and BAS merged to form a single airline named “Air Malta.” The company started operation on 1st April 1974 using Boeing 720Bs. As soon as Malta International Airport was launched, the company started offering cargo services. 

Destinations

Air Malta kept expanding its operation as its demand skyrocketed a few years after it started operation. Currently, it serves various destinations across the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa including {list_destinations}.

Fleet

Currently, Air Malta operates aircraft from the Airbus family. It owns Airbus A320-200 and Airbus A320neo. Previously, the company owned and operated many planes from the Boeing family and Convair 880.

Check-in procedure

To make travel hassle-free for its passengers, Air Malta offers three easy ways to check in. You can do it online, at the airport counter, or on your mobile. Check-in at the airport starts two hours before the flights leave, so make sure you arrive early. It’s best to complete the check-in process online and save yourself the time of waiting at the airport or standing in long queues. 

Hand and hold luggage allowance

The number of carry-on bags you can bring in the cabin depends on your class of service. Passengers in the economy class are allowed to bring 1 handbag weighing up to 10 kgs and a personal item (2kgs). The dimensions should not exceed 45 x 55 x 25 cm. If you are travelling in business class, you can bring up to two bags, the combined weight of which should not exceed 15 kgs. Make sure you check the dimensions to ensure that the bag is compact enough to fit into the overhead storage compartment or the under-seat area.

Class of service, seats, and comfort

Choose your favourite seat when you check-in online. Air Malta allows you to select a seat of your choice. They offer economy and business classes. Fly in business class to enjoy reclined seats and extra legroom. You can also get seats with extra legroom in economy class for an additional fare. All flights of Air Malta offer comfortable and spacious seats, helping you travel comfortably. 

Services on-board

In-flight meals are available for purchase at a very reasonable price. The airline has an in-flight entertainment system for passengers in all classes. Whether you are travelling on long-haul or short-haul flights, you can enjoy films and entertainment content on board. The airline allows you to bring your cats and dogs in the cabin, as long as you carry them in a small carrier that can fit under the seat.
